It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Yisroel Yechezkel Plutchok zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Derech Chaim in Brooklyn, NY.
As reported on Matzav.com last night, Rav Plutchok had been hospitalized after contracting the coronavirus/COVID-19.
A close talmid of Rav Chaim Pinchos Scheinberg zt”l, Rav Plutchok founded Derech Chaim together with his late brother-in-law, Rav Mordechai Rennert zt”l. For the last four decades, he led the yeshiva, located at 16th Avenue and 39th Street in Boro Park, with tremendous dedication.
Rav Plutchok was a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Dovid Hakohen Yarmush zt”l.
His petirah has plunged his many talmidim and admirers into mourning.
Rav Plutchok leaves behind an outstanding family of marbitzei Torah and talmidei chachomim. His son, Rav Moshe Plutchok, is the rov of the Shtiebel of Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn. His son, Rav Sholom Plutchok, is the rov of Khal Tomchei Torah of Flatbush. His son, Rav Asher Plutchok, is the founder and rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Nesivos Chaim in Kensington.
