Rav Yudel AkermanIt is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Yudel Ackerman zt”l at the age of 88.

A prominent Stoliner Chossid, Rav Yudel served as a mechanech for decades and is well-known for the joy he brought to other through his remarkable dancing skills displayed at simchos.

Rav Yudel grew up in America and later moved to Eretz Yisroel, where he lived until the end of his life.

Rav Yudel’s sister was Mrs. Hinda Tress, wife of the legendary Reb Elimelech (Mike) Tress.

The levayah was held today at the Stoliner Talmud Torah in Bnei Brak.

Yehi zichro boruch.

The following is a video of Rav Yudel dancing at a wedding several years ago:

  1. OY. What a sad Besura. In the posted video Reb Yidel is dancing for his choshiva sister Mrs. Tress AH. As a relative of this special Tzaddik I had the Zchus to be with him on many occasions and no matter what when or where he made you smile. He made you smile big and smile like you haven’t smiled in years. All genuine and real. His personality was contagious. He treated everyone the same. Rich or poor, choshiv or simple, young or old it just didnt matter to him. Whoever came in contact with him always walked away feeling better about everything. What a loss for Klal Yisroel.

  2. Kodosh and Tahor. This Tzadik Yesod Olam showed us all what true Simhcas Hachayim is! I remember him very fondly from my childhood. My cheder in Toronto used to bring him on Chanukkah to sing songs with us and tell stories… I even still remember the words to his song “Der ner chanukkah huben zei gefunen…. tzin, tzin a lichetele”. And now, this Holy Neshama was called to Kisei Shomayim on Zos Chanuka itself to sing and dance before the Malachim! May he be a mayletz yosher to his entire family and all of klal yisorel!

  3. R’ Yudel was an amazing person who brought simcha to everyone he met and everyplace he went. He raised millions of dollars for tzedakah and built numerous Mosdos HaTorah. His dedication to the Stoliner cause was unmatched and his simchas hachaim in spite of the many challenges he faced were an inspiration to everyone who knew him. R’ Yudel’s ahavas hashem and kabalas yissurin b’ahava served as a model for all those who face yissurim. Yehi zichro Baruch!

  4. Over 40 years ago I was in Reb Meir Pilchik’s zt”l Pre 1A class in Stolin Yeshiva. Before Pesach when we learned the Hagada about Reb Elazar Ben Azaria’s beard, Rabbi Pilchik brought in Rabbi Ackerman zt”l who was in the yeshiav that day and had him stand by the board and Rabbi Pilchik showed us the parts of his beard. I remember Rabbi Ackerman’s happiness in helping the class.

  5. Yudel Ackerman was an incredibly special person who added to the simchas chassan v’kallah of so many. He was also the younger brother of not just Hinda Tress, but Velvel Bagry, Donya Greenhaus and Dusie (Lucy) Wilhelm, wife of Shea Wilhelm and daughter in law of R’ Binyomin Wilhelm.

  6. It was a “Chut Hamshulash”

Reb Yudel z”l was such a :TEIRRE NESHAMA”
The memories I have of these three Tzaddikim are endless

Reb Yudel was a special neshoma, who radiated Ahavas Hashem, Ahavas Torah, Ahavas Yisroel, Chesed, Midos Tovos, simcha in Avodas Hashem …… The wonderful impact he had on thousands of Yiddishe kinder (and their parents) is legendary. He and his rebetzin shetichye always giving to the klal and to the prat…. So many thoughts and memories; I’m at a loss for words.
