  1. I was one of Rabbi Fendel’s talmidim in Yeshiva Ohr Hameir and I am shocked by this news. My good friend, Reb Yosef Pressburger who had his levaya just yesterday is surely doing his Gabboyishe duties by being melave his rebbe, Rabbi Zecharia Fendel.May we hear of know more tzar and may these Niftorim cry out to the Eibisther, Dayenu..please bring Moshiach now

  2. One of Rabbi Fendel’s daughters is Rebbitzin Malky Travitzky, wife of Rav Moshe Travitzky, who is building a Torah community in Bensalem, PA.
Rabbi Fendel a”h was a great man, an Ish Emes, a modest and humble Talmid Chacham.
Klal Yisroel has lost a special person.
Yehi Zichro Boruch; may he be a Mailitz Yosher for his wonderful family and the entire Klal.

  3. I was a high school student at the Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva during Rabbi Fendel’s tenure as its principal. He ranks among the kindest and most caring individuals with whom I have ever come into contact. He was selflessly devoted to the welfare and development of every talmid and he was moser nefesh in the most literal sense of the word for every talmid without regard for the way he was treated. I am deeply saddened by this loss as I attribute to him, by virtue of his unswerving kindness and concern for me as an individaul, any attachment I have to Yiddishkeit. He was a giant of a man whose humility prevented him from exposing his brillliance and his lofty greatness. His petira leaves a void in this world that will be very difficult if not impossible to fill. May his wife, who was his constant support, receive some comfort from the knowledge that she had the rare zechus to share her life with a man of such great stature who illuminated the path to the appreciation of Yiddishkeit to so many Ameican teenagers.

  4. Boruch Daiyan HaEmes!

A list should be given of, Yibodlem L’Chaiyim, the twelve children of the Rav, ZT’L. I knew of two of them: Rav Zalman, Sh’lita, at Beis Medrosh Gevoha in Lakewood, and Rav Dovid, Sh’lita, at Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn. They are both superb B’nei Torah.

  5. I am 63, a professor of history and the founder and director of ISAR (www.ferris.edu/isar).

Rabbi Fendel was my rebbe at Chofetz Chaim. The first really important influence on my life. Besides teaching gemara and midos, I always felt he loved me and he changed the course of my life.
