Reb Elazar (Luzy) Steinmetz z”l

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Reb Luzy Steinmetz z”l of Flatbush, Brooklyn after a protracted illness. He was 44.

In his youth, Reb Luzy learned at Yeshiva Torah Temimah, and then at Yeshivas Mir-Yerushalayim and Yeshiva Torah Vodaas.

Reb Luzy was a beloved member of Khal Bnei Torah of Flatbush, led by Rav Bentzion Shiffenbauer. His ahavas haTorah was evident as a longtime Daf Yomi maggid shiur, and he was a rodeif chesed, always looking to help others. He had a tremendous lev tov and would give his shirt off his back for anyone.

Luzy was the Executive Director of Maximus Healthcare, but his primary occupations were his Torah, avodah, and gemillus chassodim.

Reb Luzy is survived by his parents and siblings, his wife, Batya (nee Edelstein), and his children.

The levayah will take place on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Shomrei Hadas Chapels, located at 3803 14th Avenue in Boro Park, Brooklyn. The aron will then be flow to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah there.

    Even as a child he had a heart of gold! Too young to lose! What wonderful, wonderful parents and sibs! Oy, what a loss!
