It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Reb Moshe Gordon z”l of Flatbush, Brooklyn.

An oseik betzorchei tzibbur who attached himself to rabbonim and bnei Torah throughout his life, Reb Moshe used his kochos and resources to help others and to better Klal Yisroel.

Reb Moshe was the founder and owner of the popular Chap-A-Nosh eatery and take-out in Flatbush, which he later sold. He was also the caterer at the Marina Del Rey banquet hall.

His scrupulousness in kashrus and in adhering to the very highest standards of ehrlichkeit and yashrus were well-known. His dealings bein adam lachaveiro rendered him a role model in interpersonal relationships.

A talmid of the Mirrer Yeshiva in Flatbush, Reb Moshe remained connected to the Mir throughout his life. He was a mispallel at the Mirrer Yeshiva and maintained a close relationship with the roshei yeshiva of Mir, Rav Shmuel Berenbaum and Rav Shraga Moshe Kalmanowitz, as well as the present roshei yeshiva and other gedolei Torah, who often dispatched him on missions of chesed and endeavors to benefit the Torah community.

Reb Moshe and his wife Raizy a”h raised a beautiful family of bnei and bnos Torah following in their ways.

The levayah will be held today at noon at Mirrer Yeshiva, located at 1791 Ocean Parkway, at the corner of Avenue R, in Flatbush, Brooklyn. The levayah will then continue at 3:30 p.m. at the Congregation Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel, located at 613 Ramsey Street, off of East 7th Street in Lakewood, NJ, followed by kevurah in the adjacent bais hachaim.

    I remember him from when he managed the food vending machines in the Mir back in the 70’s. He was a very nice guy – may his family have a nechama.

  2. Reb Moshe Z”L was the ultimate ben Torah baalabus.
    He was polite, always the calm guy in middle of a storm, and level headed.
    He was the polar opposite of lazy. He wouldn’t hesitate to travel hours to do the right thing for a few minutes.
    He will be sorely missed.

  3. super nice person. he gave huge amounts of tzedokah in the most discreet and bechovodike way. he was loved by everyone . really sad news
