candle-small5It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rebbetzin Chana Levenberg a”h.

Rebbetzin Levenberg was the wife of Rav Tzvi Hershel Levenberg and mother of Rav Yehuda Levenberg (Lakewood), Mrs. Devorah Goldstein (Chicago) and Rav Yechiel Levenberg (London). She was 92.

Rebbetzin Levenberg, a cousin of Reb Chaim Ozer Grodzensky, was the daughter of Rav Moshe Shatzkes, Rosh Yeshiva of Grodno and Lomzer Rov, who was raised by Rav  Yitzchak Blazer. With her petirah, we have lost another bond with the gadlus of Torah and mussar of Lita.

The levaya will take place at the Holocaust Memorial Chapel on 7th Street in Lakewood, NJ, at 12:30 p.m.

Yehi zichrah boruch.

  1. im am saddened to hear this news, may her family have a nechama. she should have an aliyas neshama. may we only hear in good newss

  2. Yehi Zichra Baruch

It is worth noting that in addition to being Lomzer Rav and Rosh Yeshiva at Grodno for one year, Rav Moshe Shatzkes also served as Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanan for 17 years.

  3. REbetzin Levenberg was an Isha Chashuva ad me’od. She let Rav Levenberg sit and learn his entire life. She came from a background soaked in Torah and Yiras Hashem, and just watching her was a lesson in how a person should talk, walk and act.
A loss, a very big loss. We are losing another link to the older generation; Chaval on us.
