Rebbetzin Dr. Aviva Weisbord a”h

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rebbetzin Dr. Aviva Weisbord a”h.

Rebbetzin Weisbord was a daughter of Rav Yaakov and Rebbetzin Chana Weinberg zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Ner Yisroel of Baltimore. Her husband, Rav Berel Weisbord, is the beloved mashgiach of Yeshivas Ner Yisroel of Baltimore. She was a granddaughter of Rav Yaakov Yitzchok and Rebbetzin Feige Ruderman zt”l.

A licensed psychologist, Rebbetzin Weisbord was involved in community service in Baltimore for decades. She held leadership positions in many organizations, including Maalot Seminary, Jews for Judaism, AJOP, and The Associated’s Jewish Big Brother and Big Sister’s League (JBBL).

Rebbetzin Weisbord served as executive director of Shemesh, which provides educational support services to Jewish schools in Baltimore. She held a PhD in psychology and counseled individuals for over twenty-five years.

Rebbetzin Weisbord took ill several months ago and remained in critical condition until she passed away today.

The rebbetzin is survived by her husband, Rav Berel Weisbord; her siblings, Rabbi Matis Weinberg, Rabbi Simcha Weinberg, Mrs. Yehudis Zwick, Rebbetzin Miriam Feldman and Mrs. Naomi Sprung; her children, R’ Yehuda and Yael Weisbord, Rabbi Pinchas and Ayala Jurkowitz, R’ Sholom Meir and Lia Weisbord, Dr. Jonathan and Dvora Meira Ringo, R’ Yosef Aryeh and Tzipporah Weisbord, R’ Noson Zvi and Aviva Rochelle Weisbord, and R’ Yaakov Akiva and Faiga Miriam Sofer; and many grandchildren.

The family will be sitting shivah at the Weisbord home at 421 Yeshiva Lane, Apt 1-C-D. from 9:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 2 p.m.-6 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m.
