It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rebbetzin Nechama Dubba Groner a”h. She was 84 years old.
Rebbetzin Groner was the wife of Rav Shimon Groner, mashgiach ruchni of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin.
Born in Chicago, she was one of six daughters of Rabbi and Mrs. Nochum Dov Fishbein. Her father passed away shortly before she was born, and so she was named Nechama Dubba after him.
Rebbetzin Groner grew up in a home that was a bais vaad lechachomim, hosting gedolim and rabbonim for years in Chicago before her parents relocated to Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Rav and Rebbetzin Groner married in 1959 and Rav Groner continued his learning in Kollel Gur Aryeh of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin. After several more years of learning, Rav Shimon entered the field of chinuch. He taught the seventh and ninth grades in Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael of Forest Hills and from there was called by Rav Hutner to help found the Mesivta Chaim Berlin in Flatbush.
After four years as a mesivta rebbi, Rav Groner became a maggid shiur in the bais medrash, and in 1978 was appointed mashgiach ruchni. During his 27 years in that post, he had a profound influence on thousands of talmidim, in learning, hashkafa, and in personal growth.
An equal partner in his avodas hakodesh was Rebbetzin Groner, who devoted herself b’lev v’nefesh to him and to ensure that he can engage in his harbotzas Torah.
Rebbetzin Groner was a special woman with special character, who had a giving nature and selflessly gave of herself to one and all.
The Rebbetzin’s own accomplishments were remarkable. She was the beloved menaheles and driving force behind the Bais Yaakov known as Bnos Yisroel.
The Rebbetzin’s care and concern for and personal interest in each of her thousands of talmidos were extraordinary, and through the love she had for them, she chose marvelous teachers and moros, grade by grade, to ensure that her vision for the development of “her girls” would carry through.
The Rebbetzin was not only the aishes chover of Rav Groner, but an accomplished tzadeikes in her own merit. She managed to not only be the rock of her home, her husband’s life and her children’s lives, but the briach hatichon for her thousands of students, their families and the families of her students who went on to have families of their own.
Hundreds upon hundreds of alumni who married and then sent their daughters to the same school they went to are a true testament to the awesomeness of Rebbetzin Groner. She will be sorely missed by so many.
The levaya will take place today at 1 p.m. at Shomrei Hadas Chaples, located at 39th Street and 14th Avenue in Boro Park, Brooklyn.
Rebbetzin Groner is survived by her brother, Rav Shmuel Yosef Fishbein, and her children, R’ Schneur Groner, R’ Mordechai Yehuda Groner, Mrs. Sara Esther Brickman, Mrs. Dini Jurkanski, Mrs. Penina Neuberg and Mrs. Yocheved Landa, and grandchildren following in her ways.
The shivah will take place at the Groner home, located at 422 Avenue L in Flatbush. Shacharis is at 8 a.m., Mincha is at 2 p.m., and Maariv is at 9 p.m.

Look at the enrollment in Bnos Yisroel and count the hundreds upon hundreds of Alumni who married and then sent their daughters to the same school they went to and that is a true testament to the awesomeness of Rebbetzin Groner. She will be so missed.
The Rebitzen was a devoted teacher and educator. Her talmidos were like her daughters and we the mothers of her talmidos were given care, tools and an ear whenever we needed it. My eineklach knew her and were always greeted effusively when they saw her in shul in Far Rockaway. Yehi Zichra Baruch

Interestingly, she was named after her own father Reb Nachum Dov Fischbein z”l who was niftar before her birth.

Rabbi Peysach Krohn said at a Bnos Yisroel dinner that was honoring the Mashgiach and the Rebitzen that the Rebitzen was taught aleph Bais by R’ Elchanan Wasserman HY”D who was staying at her house I believe in Chicago.
I will never forget the cookies she gave me when I got sent to the principal. All my classmates knew that if a teacher wanted us to go to the principal-Reb Groner was the direction we went to. She will be missed!
