It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rebbetzin Sarah Zakheim a”h. She was 104 years old.
The Rebbetzin was the wife of Rav Yaakov Zakheim zt”l, longtime rov of Agudas Yisroel of Midwood on Bedford Avenue and Avenue J in Flatbush. Rav Zakheim was a talmid of Rav Elchonon Wasserman zt”l, Hy”d, in Baranovitch and one of the last remaining links to that bygone era of the Torah world of pre-war Europe.
The Rebbetzin was a devoted eizer kenegdo to her husband and a dedicated rebbetzin to his kehillos during the Zakheims’ various stops in Trenton, East Flatbush, and Flatbush proper.
Rebbetzin Zakheim is survived by her children, Reb Moshe Zakheim, Mrs. Rachel Klein and Mrs. Devorah Hamada, and many grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Reb Shlomo Zakheim z”l, a renowned baal chesed.
The levaya was held tonight at Rav Zakheim’s shul at the corner of Bedford Avenue and Avenue J.
