american-airlinesA plane was diverted for a second time this week over a seat-recline figh. A Paris flight bound for Miami was forced to land at Logan International Airport in Boston after Edmund Alexandre, 61, of Paris became enraged when the passenger in front of him reclined her seat. When a flight attendant tried to calm him down, Alexandre proceeded to chase him down the aisle.

An air marshal cuffed Alexandra and he was arrested at the airport. Alexandre faces federal and state charges for interfering with the American Airlines crew.

On Sunday, a similar dispute over a seat recline forced a plane flying from Newark to Denver to land in Chicago. Read more at The Boston Globe.

  1. Google the news story to see a picture of him. Interestingly, he was released on his own recognizance, even though he’s French and no on in Boston would ever recognize him. Hopefully they took his passport at least.

  2. And there’s no fear whatsoever that he’s a flight risk like Reb Shalom Mordechai ben Rivka Rubashkin is! Even Linda Reade ??”? would corraborate. He will show up to his court hearing and will cooperatively, just as he was on the airplane, walk into his jail cell if he’s sentenced.

  3. Until Edmund Alexandre chased and grabbed the flight attendant, I think he was 100% in the right. He’s a tall guy and the person in front of him was physically hurting him by selfishly reclining up against his legs. IMO, reclining on an airplane should only be allowed with the permission of the person in the seat behind.

  4. Maybe the there is just too little room per passenger on these flights and the airlines must be mandated to increase all passengers’ personal space.
