A preliminary study of the antiviral drug remdesivir found that the use of it alone does not cure patients who are experiencing severe symptoms of COVID-19.
Data posted in the New England Journal of Medicine Saturday showed it shortened the amount of days patients experienced severe symptoms, but did not have a great enough impact on the mortality rate of the patients studied.
“Preliminary results of this trial suggest that a 10-day course of remdesivir was superior to placebo in the treatment of hospitalized patients with Covid-19,” the researchers wrote.
“However, given high mortality despite the use of remdesivir, it is clear that treatment with an antiviral drug alone is not likely to be sufficient,” they wrote. “Future strategies should evaluate antiviral agents in combination with other therapeutic approaches or combinations of antiviral agents to continue to improve patient outcomes in Covid-19.”

Desperate “studies” now raging to delegitimatize any medication that does not tow the Pharma line.
Be very wary of these sudden “studies.”
Interestingly, none of the doctors of the studies will debate doctors of other points of view.
This is a scandal. A $$$$$$$ scandal.
Wouldn’t “big pharma” be the ones to gain from remdesivir working? Why would a money hungry, corrupt industry disprove a product that would make them money? And yes, doctors don’t debate- they study. If one doctor thinks another is wrong, they can carry out a study to test if they are right, or they can be quiet. Medicine is not about fancy comebacks or ideology- you either have to prove your point with science or sit down.
Hydroxychloroquine? Zpack?
It works, take it!
What changed? That was the conclusion of the first study as well?
The study actually reported a 40% reduction in mortality. However, this wasn’t considered statistically significant because the study wasn’t large enough to prove that this reduction wasn’t by chance.
However, considering that the reduction in hospital time was statistical significant, it is pretty likely that the reduction in hospital time is also attributable to the drug, and not a mere coincidence.
Nothing new…
But at least they tried embarrassing Trump for Hydroxychloroquine.
Not to worry, they will pump some other non treatment.
