We all remember the 45 victims of the Meron disaster who perished last year. Yehi zichron boruch.

But not everyone remembers that two boys rescued in critical condition from the disaster, boys who are, to this day, a year after the disaster, still in a critical condition.

Elazar Berger, 13, and Yossi Reit, 16, are both still hospitalized at Elin Rehabilitation Hospital. They both still cannot speak, have not yet risen from their sickbed, and hardly move their limbs.

Since the disaster, their families have been displaced due to their sons’ plight.

The family members are tormented, being by their side all the time, caring for them with devotion, and not ceasing to daven for their sons to get back on their feet and return to talking, learning and rejoicing like their peers.

All are asked to daven for Elazar ben Rauma and Yosef Azriel ben Chaya Michal.

  1. Please note, Elazar’s mother’s correct name is R’umah or Ri’umah, as is שווא נע, not Raumah, פתח. He has regained consciousness, but can barely move nor speak. I believe Yossi’s condition is no better, ר”ל. Absolutely heartbreaking. Please note that there are other injured people who are still undergoing intense rehabilitation, in incredible pain, to say nothing of the families who lost their breadwinner, their support, their husbands, their fathers, their sons, and everyone who witnessed the tragedy and still suffer from that. Please keep davening for all of them.
