Legislation exploring whether black Americans should receive restitution for slavery may soon get a huge boost, as a growing number of Democrats are hoping to move reparations this summer as another response to the death of George Floyd.
Members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) will huddle Wednesday to discuss their next legislative steps as Democrats seek to confront racial inequality following the killing of Floyd in police custody last month.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), the lead sponsor of the reparations bill, H.R. 40, said her proposal is attracting greater interest within the caucus since Floyd’s death, which sparked mass protests for racial justice around the country and the globe. She’s hoping to tap that energy to bring her bill to the floor for a historic vote before year’s end.

We all have to do serious teshuva with all these terrible things happening – but – wait- voting for Trump a man with upstanding character, moral clarity, loyalty, great orator, always so careful with what comes out if his mouth- supporting him yes -that is the right decision. Supporting Trump has nothing to do with all the tragedies or the division in this blessed country. Four more years of an unchecked Trump … that is the solution.

If this bill gets passed by the house before november then the Democrats will have handed the election back to Trump (who is currently trailing Biden by double digits) on a silver platter not to mention giving republicans a couple seats in the senate and control of the house
Jews get reparations from Germany. American Blacks should get reparations from African tribes, Portugal, Spain, and others that sold tribal Blacks into slavery.
I don’t think that Jews will be able to get reparations from England, France, and Spain for the expulsions of the 14th 15th and 16th centuries nor from Germany for the Black Death massacres and expulsions and from the Ukraine for the Chmielnici massacres. The same should apply here. You can ask reparations from the persons who were responsible, not from their great great grandchildren. Particularly from the majority or at least very sizable minority of Americans whose ancestors arrived after the civil war.
I can’t wait to see the WHITE Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Paul Pelosi, & Hunter Biden write out their first check to black people! Can it be used as a tax write off? Can it be from a business check? What about mixed racial marriages? Can the white Bill DeBlasio give his check to his black wife?
