A whistleblower set to testify before Congress this week claims that then-Vice President Joe Biden engaged in phone conversations with his son Hunter’s business associates overseas, the New York Post reports. Hunter Biden’s former close friend, Devon Archer, is scheduled to provide testimony to the House Oversight Committee regarding these interactions. Committee Chair Rep. James Comer expressed anticipation in hearing from Archer about instances where Joe Biden connected with Hunter’s overseas business partners on speakerphone during his vice presidency.
“We are looking forward very much to hearing from Devon Archer about all the times he has witnessed Joe Biden meeting with Hunter Biden’s overseas business partners when he was vice president, including on speakerphone,” Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said, the Post reported.
Despite Joe Biden’s repeated claims of having no knowledge about Hunter’s foreign business dealings, Archer is expected to testify that he personally witnessed Hunter including his father in meetings by dialing him in on speakerphone, introducing him to potential investors or foreign business partners. In one specific call in December 2015, Ukrainian energy company Burisma’s owner, Mykola Zlochevsky, urgently requested to speak with Hunter and was subsequently connected to Joe Biden. During this call, Joe exchanged brief pleasantries with Zlochevsky and senior Burisma executive Vadym Pozharskyi. Archer recalls Hunter mentioning that the Burisma leaders “need our support” during this conversation.
The reason behind Zlochevsky’s urgent call to Joe Biden is expected to be investigated by lawmakers. At the time of the call, Ukrainian prosecutor general Viktor Shokin was investigating Burisma for corruption, and shortly after Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid to Ukraine, Shokin was fired.
The whistleblower will also share details about other speakerphone meetings, possibly as many as two dozen, including a dinner in Paris where Hunter involved his father to impress potential investors. Additionally, there were two dinners organized by Hunter for his father to meet business partners from Ukraine, Russia, and Kazakhstan.
It’s important to note that Archer, who is facing jail time for his involvement in a $60 million bond fraud, has decided to testify because he believes it is his “civic duty.”
Another former business partner of Hunter Biden, Tony Bobulinski, recalls an incident by the Chateau Marmont pool in Los Angeles where Hunter offered to get his father on the phone during a meeting. Bobulinski states that other associates of the Biden family confirmed that Joe would frequently take calls from Hunter during business meetings and provide input via speakerphone.
Recently, Sen. Chuck Grassley released an FBI document showing that a confidential human source (CHS) informed the FBI of President Biden’s alleged involvement in a criminal bribery scheme with Zlochevsky during his vice presidency.
