Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu turned down a suggestion to eliminate former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar just a week before the October 7 attack, Channel 12 reporter Omri Maniv shared during a discussion with Erel Segal and Eyal Berkovic on Sunday.
The conversation on 103FM brought to light new information that could offer insights into Israel’s inability to prevent the attack.
Maniv began by explaining Hamas’ preparations leading up to the assault. He pointed out that Muhammad Deif, the commander of Hamas’ military branch, was the one who authorized the attack on Israel.
“Hamas understood that without the element of surprise, they had no operation,” Maniv commented.
“We know how much effort they put into secrecy. Even members of Nukhba, Hamas’ elite unit, were only informed shortly before that they were heading for a real operation.”
He further disclosed that Deif had set a crucial condition for the attack: “Mohammed Deif made a decision before the attack that if he saw drones, he would not launch this attack. The attack was scheduled for six o’clock, and it turns out that the original attack time was six o’clock, not six twenty-nine. He said: ‘Something is not right with me.'”
Maniv suggested that a higher level of alertness from the IDF could have thwarted the assault. “If we had prepared for a major assault instead of an infiltration by thousands of people and had positioned drones in the sky and tanks in place, at least on that day, there would have been no October 7.”
“Deif didn’t believe it. He said there couldn’t be anything, so he waited half an hour to see if they were doing a trick on him. He saw that they weren’t doing anything, and then he gave the order to attack,” Maniv elaborated. He emphasized that while Sinwar was the overall leader, Deif was the one directing the military operations.
Maniv also revealed details of a security briefing that took place on October 1, just six days before the attack. He mentioned that for the first time in a while, Hamas publicly took credit for an attack in the West Bank. “As soon as it took responsibility, you understand that it is saying that it is prepared for a significant escalation. Then they gathered and asked, ‘How do you respond to such an event?'”
During the meeting, the head of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) suggested two options: “The first is to behead the leaders of Hamas, with an emphasis on Sinwar. If you say that’s too much, then behead the planners of the attacks, the Hamas people in Gaza who maintained their connections in the West Bank.”
According to Maniv, Netanyahu did not react to the suggestion. “Netanyahu ignored the offer to take down Sinwar.”

Further revelations that there were several ideas of actions that the IDF could have done that would have prevented & thwarted the Hamas planned October 7 – Simchas Torah attack. Yet, “from the top down” of the highest levels of the Israel Government, these ideas were ignored and no actions were taken and the horrendous severe attack occurred, with all its horrendous results & ramifications of massive deaths, numerous captives, and vehemently dangerous Sinas Yisroel, Rachmana Litzlan.
Now, though, our own country of the United States once did the EXACT same (type of) thing. At the height of World War II, the nation of Japan had planned a massive on the United State’s central naval base of its Pacific Fleet located at the water inlet near Honolulu, Hawaii, called “Pearl Harbor.” From its highest levels, the US Government well know about planned attack; however, it did not pass any warnings to people at the Pearl Harbor base so they would be completely unprepared when the attack came. Not only that, they manipulated the base so the attack would cause as much harm as possible. They thus issued strict orders for the ships to be positioned tightly lined up next to each other so the bombs would easily hit all of them. They further ordered for the fighter planes to also be parked tightly next to each other AND facing each other, so it would be nearly impossible for their piolets to lift them of into the air to try to fight the incoming enemy.
So, on early Sunday morning of December 7, 1941 — which, being the Christian holy day & the weekly day off & time when people are resting from their relaxing & getting drunk that they like doing on Saturday night, was a perfect time for a surprise attack — when the Japanese piolets flew their warplanes into Pearl Harbor, they met almost zero opposition. With flying in two waves of planes in less than two hours, they poured down very massive destruction, massacring close to two and a half thousand people (the official death count was 2,403), Hashem Yinakem Damam, and wreaking hundreds of aircraft & scores of naval vessels, a few of which completely sunk.
The next day, December 8, an emergency Joint Session of Congress was held. The then, President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, entered and delivered a brief but powerful address. He proclaimed what was certainly one of THE most famous pointed statements in World History: ” . . . December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy . . . ” He proceeded to relate not only the Pearl Harbor attack, but also many further Japanese attacks in the Pacific region. He further related that for a long while, at the Japanese Government’s request, their representatives had been engaged in talks with the US Government for PEACEFUL resolution of tensions. He thus portrayed “THE JAP” as a fiendish monster, who, with a fiendish smile, will pretend to put his arm around you in a friendly embrace, while with that arm, he is ramming a huge knife into your back!!
He thus requested a RETROACTIVE (like we say in our Gemara study: to be “Chal Limafraya”) ” . . . since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7th, 1941″ Declaration of War. Less than three hours later, Congress passed this “Chal Limafraya” Declaration of Unprovoked War with an astounding unanimous minus one vote.
Okay. Calm down.
The obvious gigantic question is: “Was this act (of deliberately allowing & facilitating the massive Pearl Harbor attack with its heavy loss of life) that President Roosevelt & the US Government did morally right?” Furthermore, the strong contention that the attack was “unprovoked,” was not the actual case. For, in the escalating tensions, the US Government had enacted a number of severely stiff embargoes on Japan, which had pushed its “back up against the wall” and gave it strong reason to want to lash out. The one member of Congress who had voted against the war declaration was a woman representative from Montana, Jeannette Pickering Rankin, (1880 – 1973), who was a rabid pacifist. In one of the many remarks she made defending her exceedingly controversial vote, she correctly retorted that this was most absolutely a very much PROVOKED war!!
The famous director then of the FBI, John Edgar Hoover, said it even more sharply. If you take a RATTLESNAKE and hold it and try to make it feel a lot of pain by sticking a lot of NEEDLES into its head, it IS going to bite!!!!!!!!!!
After Adolf Hitler & his Nazi party, Yimach Shemam, V’Zichram, took over Germany in early 1933, they rabidly built it up into an exceedingly powerful military force and glaringly proclaimed their goal of world rule AND that Am Yisroel would be REMOVED from that new world. In 1938, they annexed Austria and Czechoslovakia, and starting in in 1939, in actual violent war, forcefully invaded Poland and numerous other countries throughout Europe and, together with their ally Italy, soon controlled most of Continental Europe and northern Africa. They came extremely close to, Rachmana Litzlan, blowing England off the map, and they further invaded Russia, with INITIALLY tremendous success. Wherever they occupied, they deliberately inflicted on us of Am Yisroel the most severe cruel abuse and sadistic excruciating torture, in which they killed over six million of us AND many, many, many, many more millions of non-Jews whom they deemed “inferior” or opposed to them.
So, it was glaringly obvious that Hitler & his Nazis had to be stopped. However, the earlier world war of just 25 years before was well remembered, how it had been a horrific blood bath with vast numbers of soldiers on all sides killed. In the just 100 days that the US was in it, the US lost 100,000 soldiers. Therefore, most of the Congress and most of the people of the country were adamantly against going into another war, especially in Europe. Furthermore, there was an attitude of “isolationism,” which was a callous indifference to problems of the outside world, especially Europe. “Let Europe boil in its own stew!!” was the retort.
However, while Hitler & his Nazis were tearing up Europe, on the other side of the world, Japan was rampaging through the Orient, occupying North-East China, called “Manchuria,” Korea, the coast of China, and south into Vietnam. So, officials in the US Government saw that here, there might be an “opening”; they thus made a sarcastic little rhyme: “The only way that we will be able to get into this war, will be through the Back Door!!” In other words, they knew that they could not get the people to fight a war in Europe, the “Front” of the world, but, there was a chance that they might agree to fight one in the “Back” of the world, in the Orient.
Now, to “get into the war through the back door,” was obviously going to take some heavy effort. As related, Japan was invading many areas of the Orient, which the US would clearly oppose and strongly condemn. Then they would need to whip up the tensions & controversy to the point of outright confrontation. They thus actually drew up a memorandum listing a several point plan to (hopefully) lead & goad & provoke Japan to military conflict with us. When, by their advanced intelligence capabilities, saw that Japan was gearing up for its massive assault on Pearl Harbor, this is exactly what they wanted!! They thus kept their knowledge secret from the Pearl Harbor Base officials and did the other manipulations of the base so that the attack would inflict maximum harm & damage, as I related above.
When the attack actually came, of course, they had the media blare it up full, full blast. And the President came to Congress and loudly proclaimed:
“DAY OF INFAMY!!” “UNPROVOKED ATTACK!!” “UNPROVOKED WAR!!”
Which was all a total lie, but it was totally a totally necessary lie!! For it worked perfectly, for, as related, the Congress passed the war declaration with an almost unanimous vote. And almost all the people of the country were fully of fully massively geared up to fight the war and to win the war and to take from Japan extremely severe revenge.
However, all this “Day of Infamy” condemnation and almost unanimous war declaration was (at this point) only against JAPAN. Yes, the US had most certainly entered the “Back Door” of the war (in the Orient with Japan), but it still needed to get over to the “Front Door” (in Europe with Nazi Germany). This though, turned out to be more than easy, for it turned out that they did not need to GO OVER to the Front Door; because, instead, the Front Door CAME OVER to them!!
For several years, Imperial Japan had been developing a relationship with Nazi Germany, which, together with Fascist Italy, culminated on September 27, 1940, in the three countries forming a military alliance called the “Tripartite Pact.” (A video clip of the historic event, titled: “Signature du pacte tripartite entre l’Allemagne, l’Italie et le Japon,” is on YouTube.) In the days before Pearl Harbor, the highest Nazi officials, in Hitler’s name, gave the highest Japanese officials the assurance of their full support of Japan’s planned war on the United States.
When Hitler first heard the news reports of Pearl Harbor, he excitedly ran to his aids asking if it was true as he euphorically exclaimed that they now had this war “in the bag,” for the Japanese were excellent AAA1 fighters who had not lost a war in 3,000 years!! On December 12, he himself bestowed upon the Foreign Minister of Japan a special esteemed Nazi award and GREATLY PRAISED HIM for Japan’s treachery. The day before, December 11, though, was the key action. In the morning, from a balcony of his palace in Rome, Benito Mussolini announced declaration of war on the US. Shortly afterwards in Berlin, in an almost hour and a half speech to the Reichstag, Hitler announced declaration of war on the US.
This time, there was no need for the President to again come over to the Capitol building and deliver another speech to the Congress. Instead, it was evidently more than enough for him to merely send the congress a brief, but certainly powerful message:
“On the morning of December eleventh, the Government of Germany, pursuing its course of world conquest, declared war against the United States. —- The long known and the long expected has thus taken place. The forces endeavoring to enslave the entire world now are moving toward this hemisphere. —- Never before has there been a greater challenge to life, liberty, and civilization. —- Delay invites greater danger. Rapid and united effort by all of the peoples of the world who are determined to remain free will insure a world victory of the forces of justice and of righteousness over the forces of savagery and of barbarism. —- Italy also has declared war against the United States. —- I therefore request the Congress to recognize a state of war between the United States and Germany, and between the United States and Italy.”
The two war declarations were passed with a complete unanimous vote, as this time, Miss. Rankin (the one representative who had voted against the Japan declaration) abstained.
So, the United States was now fully in the war, both in “The Back” (the Orient against Imperial Japan) and in “The Front” (Europe against Nazi Germany & Fascist Italy). The history of the subsequent numerous events and developments of the war is extremely well known. The huge question though remains: Was the US Pearl Harbor action (of allowing & facilitating the close to two and a half thousand deaths and then falsely screaming ‘Infamy!!’ & ‘Unprovoked!!’) morally right?
B’Ezras Hashem, let us imagine what would have happened if the United States HAD NOT done that: They had not incited Japan to “bite.” Or, even if Japan had wanted to “bite” and had sent out a big naval force, the US Government DID warn the Pearl Harbor base people who thus went on full alert, so when the Japanese piolets approached Hawaii, they saw a huge ring of US fighter planes, and thus turned around and flew back home. In other words: let us imagine that the whole Pearl Harbor had not occurred; wat would have happened?
If Pearl harbor had not occurred, then, as well explained above, the United States would have not entered the war, not through the Front Door and not through the Back Door. If the United States would not have entered the war, then Japan would have continued to do its thing, of occupying more territory & abusing & killing more people and Nazi Germany would have continued to do its thing, of occupying more territory & abusing & killing more people. It probably would have repulsed the Soviet/Russian counterattacks (which had begun to severely wreak its invasion) and, instead, solidify its grip on the Soviet Union. It may have likely attempted another, more stronger assault on England, and this time, successfully conquered it. It probably would have greatly intensified its pursuit of advanced-hyper-weapons and may have actually developed nuclear armaments and super planes and super rockets that could have flown and shot all over the world. AND, Rachmana Litzlan, it may have thus nuclear-firebombed our American cities and launched its army onto our shores, and would any of us even be alive today?????????
NOTE: On the issue of Nazi Germany being a nuclear threat, please see the video on YouTube titled: “How Close Did Hitler Come To Nuclear Weapons?” which shows that the answer to the question is “Extremely, Extremely, EXTREMELY Close!!” And, that they may have even begun to actually have crossed the “finish line,” as there are reports of what certainly appear to have been successful tests of small nuclear devices. In great detail, it relates how, up through virtually the last minutes of the war, the Nazi hierarchy employed numerous top scientists who frantically worked on the effort and came up with many different excellent designs & proposals. In many locations in German controlled territory, they had many gigantic, multi-level underground facilities for research, development & production of nuclear & other exceedingly advanced super weapons.
Boruch Hashem though, that did not happen. Boruch Hashem, Pearl Harbor DID occur and, Boruch Hashem, through the Back Door and then at the Front Door, the United States DID enter the war!! And, Boruch Hashem, Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany were NOT ABLE to continue to do their thing, and, thus, Boruch Hashem, today, we ARE alive and able to look back and talk about it!!!!!!!!!!
So, there obviously are numerous deadly serious reasons why the US Government was probably literally COMPELLED to do what it did at Pearl Harbor and may even completely JUSTIFY what it did at Pearl Harbor.
Now though, when a short while ago, in 2023, the Israel Government with its IDF and its Mossad & its other intelligence agencies VERY WELL KNEW about the horrendous massive brutal assault that the evil Hamas, Yimcha Shemo V’Zichro, was planning and gearing up to make on us of Am Yisroel on that coming day of Shabbos & Simchas Torah, and yet, DID ABSOLUTE ZERO, to try to stop it or thwart it or repel it, and, on the contrary, (just like the US did at Pearl Harbor) did not give any warnings to any of the numerous Jewish Kibbutzim & settlements & communities & villages & towns near Gaza that they were in horrific danger, and even further, had the residents of these Kibbutzim & settlements GIVE UP TO THEM all their “private” guns and other armaments, making them completely defenseless, evidently so that (just like the US did at Pearl Harbor) when the attack would come, it would inflict maximum harm & damage —— WHAT BIG SERIOUS REASONS WERE THERE THAT SO COMPELLED THE ISRAEL GOVERNMENT TO DO THIS???????? WHAT POSSIBLE JUSTIFICATION IN THE WHOLE WORLD COULD THERE POSSIBLY BE FOR THE ISREAL GOVERNMENT TO DO THIS????????
