A channel on Telegram associated with Mohammed Deif, the supreme commander of Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, has disclosed the operational readiness of a new missile capable of posing a significant threat to a vast expanse of Israeli territory.
As per the report, this recently developed rocket boasts a remarkable range of 190 kilometers (118 miles), enabling it to target Rosh Hanikra, situated along Israel’s northern border, all the way from Gaza. Notably, the rocket carries a formidable one-ton warhead.
It has been revealed that the rocket’s production is carried out by the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades within the confines of the Gaza Strip. The explosives used are imported from Iran. On August 17th, 2023, a rocket of this model was launched from Gaza toward the Mediterranean Sea, with the report suggesting that this action was intended to convey a message to Israel.
A distinct communication issued on the same channel underscored that the “Palestinian struggle organizations,” under the coordination of a joint operations center, are closely monitoring developments in Judea and Samaria, as well as Jerusalem. This group warned Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir against actions that could inflict harm upon the Palestinian population. They cautioned that such actions would result in a retaliatory barrage of rockets targeting Tel Aviv on an extensive scale.
The message sent an unequivocal message, stating, “We want to remind you (Israelis) that the decision to target Tel Aviv is more straightforward for us than quenching our thirst with water.”
