According to The Guardian, the Republican National Committee offered a deal to anti-Donald Trump activists Thursday that would make the future first four primaries “closed”—in exchange for the activists backing off their push to allow delegates to “unbind” and vote their conscience at the convention. The negotiations took place behind closed doors and delayed the start of the Rules Committee meeting.

Officials had originally said a printer malfunction was the reason for the delay. Ken Cuccinelli, the former attorney general of Virginia and Ted Cruz campaign staffer, was reportedly the leader of the group challenging the RNC. Cuccinelli has been pushing to limit the RNC’s power over nominating contests. Read more at THE GUARDIAN.
