The Yated newspaper, based in Monsey, NY, enjoys one of the largest international Jewish readerships.

Matzav.com, which has joined the effort to assist, has itself raised over $35,000 for the fund.

Following a series of articles editorials exploring the pioneering work of the Rubashkin family with regards to Kashrus in the U.S., and illuminating various aspects of the case and the travesty committed against the Rubashkins, Yated readers were inspired to contribute funds to the cause.

Rabbi Lipschutz only came to know Reb Sholom Mordechai after personally learning Shaar Habitachon of Chovos Halevavos daily on the phone with him following his arrest. He and his wife subsequently spent a Shabbos with him and his family this past summer.

“He got to know the mettle of this man, his true nature,” says Rabbi Lipa Brennan, a close friend of Rabbi Lipshutz, explaining why he was motivated to take on the Rubashkin cause and place the Yated at the disposal of this crisis.

“Rabbi Lipshutz recognized the enormous contribution that the Rubashkins have made to Jewish life in the U.S. and that inspired him to want to take a significant role in leading the fundraising efforts to help their defense,” says Rabbi Brennan.

Rabbi Lipshutz’s articles continue to inspire thousands worldwide to respond with their support, encouraging them to send their donations by mail to: Pidyon Shivuyim, 53 Olympia Lane, Monsey, NY 10952. All monies are then forwarded to the NCFJE’s Rubashkin defense fund.

At least $800,000 more has yet to be raised to cover legal defense fees ensuring R’ Sholom Mordechai and his family the best possible defense.

At present, he is hoping for a positive outcome of his attorneys’ latest appeal for his release on bail. A response to their expedited petition for rehearing to the 8th Circuit 11-judge panel could be imminent.

R’ Sholom Mordechai’s legal team is now working diligently in preparation for sentencing hearings, expected sometime in the next several months.

Readers are asked to continue praying, contribute to and participate in the many activities going on to help R’ Sholom Mordechai and his family.

Please continue to daven for Reb Shalom Mordechai ben Rivkah.

Significant funds must still be raised for the legal defense. Anyone who can help out and can lend support should take a moment to send a donation to the Pidyon Shvuyim Fund. The help of Yidden across the globe is severely needed.

  1. I know for a fact that Rabbi Lipschutz does not own Matzav. I think they might be friends with each other though and help each other out.

If the editors at Matzav would like to settle the score, they can explain it themselves. Obviously they would rather leave these comments and don’t care what people think about this discussion.

  2. To #2-#4 And therefore what are you suggesting? That Rabbi Lipschutz and Matzav are in cahoots to help a wonderful person who has been wronged by the system? OMG!!! What is the world coming to!!

So what if R. Lipschutz owns Matzav. WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!! All of you are just showing your true colors: hate for another Jew.

Yasher koach to R. Lipschutz and Matzav. May you go from strength to strength.

  3. I happen to know rabbi lipschutz and he told me that he does not own matzav and all rumors to the contrary should not be taken seriously.

  4. KOL HAKAVOD
the one thing that HaShem wants from us is Ahavas Yisroel. This man did alot of chessed and deserves our consideration.
I pray that he comes home soon because I hear that he has an autistic son who depends on him.
May HaShem help us all to have the emese reality.

  5. The great Kiddush Hashem here is that this shows the true Ahavas Yisroel of the yeshiva world in every single Yid. As a proud alumni of the yeshiva world and a proud reader of the Yated, I too have had strong differences with Chabad. Yet I too have personally donated $1000- (allot of money for me) to the Rubashkin fund. I hope to still donate more. It’s important to remember that the Yated was established mostly as a response to Chabad messianism. Yet it is precisely this paper that is doing enormous things to help this dear fellow Yid. Mi K’amcha Yisroel – Ahavas Yisroel despite machlokos!! Machlokos of Gedolei Yisroel stems from their Ahavas Hatorah, Ahavas Hashem, and Ahavas Yisroel.
