Today, In a historic move, earlier than usual, a coalition of Jewish leaders and local groups representing the Jewish community in Borough Park, including Bobov, Belz, and Satmar united to announced their endorsement of Andrew Yang for mayor of NYC.
In a statement the mayoral candidate Andrew Yang said “I am so deeply proud to have earned the endorsement of this incredible group of community leaders, many of whom I’ve met and gotten to know on a personal level in recent weeks. New York’s Jewish community is not only core to who we are as a City, it is also going to be critical to New York’s comeback. I have had such an amazing time visiting Borough Park, bumping into people on 13th Avenue, visiting local shops — where everyone I met was so optimistic about New York’s future. The vibrancy, hope and joy felt on the streets in Borough Park is a palpable reminder of who we are as New Yorkers.

These people are fickle. They hear polls that Yang is leading, so they think they will jump on a winning bandwagon. But then when winds and polls shift later, they may well shift allegiance.
And let’s say the Hasidim in Williamsburg and Crown Heights endorse someone else? So the Hasidic vote will be split.
And there will be some people who will now vote against him because of this endorsement. So is it a net gain, or loss?
And how many people will actually vote? Endorsing is not the same as actually voting.

I don’t belong to any of the mosdos endorsing Adams or Yang. But I really can’t figure out the Yang Endorsement. What has Yang done for anyone let alone for our community that he deserves such a wide sweeping endorsement? Adams at least has a track record. Personally I’ll probably vote for curtis Sliwa.
Can someone enlighten me please? As far as I know, each of these kehilos is a 501 c 3 charitable entity; a status they can forfeit by making political endorsements.
Perhaps it was just individuals who happen to be associated with these kehilos who made the endorsement on their own but not as representatives of the kehilos.
