Robert F. Kennedy Jr., running as an independent candidate for president, revealed in a Pennsylvania court filing that he plans to endorse former President Donald Trump after officially withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race, the Associated Press revealed this afternoon.

The 70-year-old Kennedy’s decision comes on the heels of increasing rumors suggesting he would exit the race and throw his support behind Trump.

Insiders had previously informed The NY Post that this move was likely influenced by discussions between Kennedy’s team and Trump’s allies, coupled with the cold reception Kennedy received from the Democratic Party during his campaign.

Nicole Shanahan, Kennedy’s vice-presidential pick, had hinted earlier in the week that they might step down from the race to align with Trump in an effort to prevent Vice President Kamala Harris from securing the presidency.

Following this news, Trump expressed that he would be “honored” to receive Kennedy’s endorsement.

Reports indicate that Trump, 78, had a meeting with Kennedy in Milwaukee last month, coinciding with the start of the Republican National Convention, as part of his effort to secure Kennedy’s endorsement.

Meanwhile, the Harris campaign has reportedly turned down opportunities to engage with Kennedy.
