President Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday during a meeting with heir to the British throne, urged him to deliver a “message of peace” to Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas.

Rivlin addressed Prince William’s upcoming meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, asking him to convey that “It’s about time for us to find together a way to build confidence. To bring to an end the tragedy between us that goes on for more than 120 years.”

“We are not doomed to live together, we are destined to live together. All the Jerusalemites know we can live together and we will live together,” Rivlin said, adding that it was important that an “understanding from both sides” was reached.

William, who is the first British royal family member to visit the Jewish state in an official capacity since its founding in 1948, said he looked forward to “understanding lots about the region and hoping that peace in the area can be achieved.”
