rnc-chairman-reince_priebusRepublican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Wednesday mocked Hillary Clinton, saying that she had tried to distance herself from President Obama and “failed.”

On Twitter, Priebus said voters could expect more of the same policies from Clinton if she runs for president in 2016.

The RNC chairman was referring to the highly anticipated meeting between Obama and Clinton on Wednesday night at a private birthday party on Martha’s Vineyard.

The meeting follows a public rift between the two on foreign policy. In a recent interview with The Atlantic, Clinton said the administration’s refusal to arm non-radical rebel groups in Syria led to the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria militant group.

Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said Tuesday that her comments were not meant to attack the president. They spoke about the issue in a phone call, he said, and added that Clinton looks forward to “hugging it out” at the party.

The press corps has been speculating about the meeting, but White House deputy spokesman Eric Schultz said Wednesday that reporters won’t have access to the event.

Republicans have been highlighting Clinton’s critical remarks.
