rav-avrohom-genechovskyIt is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Avrohom Genechovsky zt”lrosh yeshiva at the Tchebiner Yeshiva, Kochav M’Yaakov, in Yerushalayim. He was 76. The petirah took place at about 3 o’clock this morning Israel time.

Rav Genechovsky had been feeling unwell for the past few months and had been hospitalized first on 15 Sivan at Ichilov Medical Center. Before the summer, he traveled to the United States to receive medical treatment.

Surgery was performed on Rav Genechovsky to remove a tumor in his liver, but his condition took various turns for the worse.

Even during his illness, Rav Genechovsky continued being at the Tchebiner yeshiva, but that became too difficult as his illness became worse. During the time he was able to go the yeshiva, it is said that he did not miss even one of his scheduled shiurim, delivering them despite the unspeakable yissurim he was experiencing.

Rav Genechovsky was born on 1 Tishrei 5697 to his parents, Rav and Rebbetzin Eliyahu Moshe Genechovsky.

He lived on Rechov Avtalyon in Bnei Brak, from where the levaya will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Rav Genechovsky was a highly-regarded mashpiah, mashgiach and maggid shiur, and counted among his talmidim prominent marbitzei Torah. He was a brilliant talmid chochom and boki, with a thorough grasp of all facets of Torah.

He is survived by his son, Rav Shlomo Yosef Genechovsky, and his daughter, Mrs. Meyer, wife of Rav Binyomin Meyer. He was predeceased by his son, Rav Refoel Yonah.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. another Tzaddik niftar young (in his seventies)
comapred to 120 or even 100.

its tragic as the list of gedolim leaving us on a weekly basis, just keeps on growing & just never stops R”L

THATS OUR FAULT i.e. we could’ve woken up & returned to hashem with teshuva & achdus, & these tzaddikim guiding us would still be here to give us daas torah & keep the world going.

the choise is now ours just how many more will need to leave us C”V until we wake up & do teshuva, thus showing Hashem that we get his wake-up call for teshuva & the bringing of Mashiach

May no other tzaddikim leave us. each one as a major & tragic loss for us

may his neshama have an aliya
