Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told Newsmax on Friday that one of the key reasons former Governor Andrew Cuomo is ahead in the mayoral race is because the city is filled with “brainwashed Democrats.”
Last week, Cuomo revealed his plans to restart his political career and campaign for mayor of New York City after his controversial exit from the governor’s office in 2021 following allegations of harassment.
Giuliani, who expressed his continued affection for New York City and its residents, admitted he could not comprehend the city’s support for left-wing politicians. Among the four mayoral candidates, Cuomo holds a significant lead, with 32% of likely voters backing him.
“How could they have voted for [former Mayor Bill] de Blasio twice? I mean, you got to be out of your mind to vote for de Blasio twice. So, it’s essentially those core voters that somebody with the name Cuomo is appealing to. They’ve brainwashed Democrats,” Giuliani remarked during his appearance on “Finnerty.”
The 2008 presidential contender also voiced his support for current Mayor Eric Adams, despite his issues. “I prefer Adams for the job with all his problems, because he’s the only one on the ticket that seems to articulate what’s wrong with us, and he is getting better at dealing with it. Crime is going down now,” Giuliani stated.

Quality of life in NYC is plummeting. Walking around, one sees broken glass, dog droppings, graffiti, etc., regularly. Where is law enforcement?
Right where it should be, hamstrung by the leftists who don’t even live in the City of New York, better known as the Assembly and State Senate.
And frum yidden don’t get the message, it’s time to replant elsewhere. NYC and NYS is over. 95% of the young population 35 and younger honestly can’t afford it. Housing and chinuch are ridiculously out of reach. The standards set by the few who can afford it, creating so many uncalled crisis within our communities. Where do people imagine that they are struggling to “fit in”?
So where should we move to? Birdsong, Arkansas? Hollenberg City, Kansas?
