rush-limbaughOn his Thursday show, Rush Limbaugh wondered “how many people really think” of President Obama as a black man. Limbaugh’s comments came as he leafed through a new book by U.S. News and World Report writer Kenneth Walsh about African Americans and the presidency. The book recounted a meeting in the White House, where Obama said he was concerned that “race was probably a key component” in some of the opposition to his presidency.

Limbaugh objected strongly to this idea, calling it “classless” and baseless of Obama to think that race was involved in peoples’ animus towards him. Then he said that Obama was not even thought of as black by most people:

“Let me ask you a question. How many people really think of Obama as black? …One of Obama’s parents is black. Undeniable. But he was raised by a white mother, by white grandparents. He went to a highly exclusive private school in Hawaii with rich, white students and white teachers. He went to exclusive colleges that were practically lily-white. Barry Obama is from a very white, albeit radically left, cultural background. He’s not from the hood. He’s not from the movement…I’m telling you, there is a chip on this guy’s shoulder, and it is a factor in every policy decision that he makes.”

  1. True. The reason I can’t stand Obama certainly has nothing to do with his race. It has everything to do with his ridiculous policies and lack of experience and sense of direction that’s driving America to it’s destruction. It’s like watching a Jimmy Carter all over again, only worse.

  2. He is a black and there is nothing to talk about but that is not a prob I would vote for a black if they were in line of what a president should be and didn’t have retarded policy’s that run the country there is nothing wrong with being black the problem is being dumb and stupid like obama and carter if bush was black he still would have been a grate president

  3. Its an old story, and I’m suppriesed so many African americans voted for him. African Americans hate blacks who try to act white They even get bullied at school.

  4. How you consider Mr. Obama’s appearance relates to your amount of xenophobia. If its on your mind, you are xenophobic. If you are like most Americans, you see Mr. Obama, not a black or half black man. Just a thought.

  5. I think of him as a lousy president. Color doesn’t mean anything to me. There are good men and bad men of every color. (His color happens to be lighter than some whites). I liked General Colin Powell who is black and Judge Clarence Thomas who also is black.

  6. The opposition to President Obama has to do with his policies, not with his race. I would vote for Clarence Thomas in a second if he were running for President.
