Russia, Israel Agree To Drive Off Iranian Military From Syrian Border

Israel and Russia have reached an unofficial agreement that Iranian and Hezbollah forces should be kept off from the border on the Golan Heights, Israel’s Hadashot TV news reported on Monday.

Israel has been pledging for months to prevent its main enemy Iran from entrenching itself militarily in Syria, where Tehran is backing President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

It is understood that, for its part, Israel agreed to accept the return to the border of soldiers loyal to Assad’d regime; while Russia will guarantee that no Iranian or Hezbollah forces return to the area.
