Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that Moscow is open to engaging in discussions with the United States regarding a peace proposal that had been the subject of negotiations between Washington and Kyiv. She indicated that such discussions could potentially occur as soon as Thursday.
Following high-level discussions in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday with senior American diplomats, Ukraine expressed its willingness to agree to a temporary truce lasting 30 days. Meanwhile, the United States conveyed that it was presenting this proposal to the Russian government for consideration.
“We are ready to discuss the initiatives set out there in future contacts with the United States. Such contacts are already possible as early as today,” Zakharova stated.
Earlier, the Kremlin confirmed that American representatives were on their way to Russia for negotiations. It also disclosed that Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov and U.S. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz had spoken over the phone on Wednesday.
