russia-us-space-stationRussia is to deny the US future use of the International Space Station beyond 2020 and will also bar its rocket engines from launching US military satellites as it hits back at American sanctions imposed over Ukraine crisis.

Russia’s deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin announced a series of punitive measures on Tuesday against the US in response to sanctions imposed after Russia annexed Crimea.

The two countries have long cooperated closely on space exploration despite their clashes in foreign policy.

The Space Station is manned by both American and Russian crew, but the only way to reach it is by using Russia’s Soyuz spacecraft.

The US is keen to keep the $100 billion (£600) ISS flying until at least 2024, four years beyond its original target. Read more at The Telegraph.

  1. Another blunder we can thank Obama and the current class of “liberals” for.

Obama cut off the missile defense system the U.S. had installed and was continuing to install in Eastern European countries, because the Russians didn’t want it. It wasted a lot of money, and of course American interests.

The Russians responded to this “gesture” by that plane “accident” that killed Poland’s Premiere.

If at this point it wasn’t clear what the Russians intentions were, then there was more.

    Obama destroying our Nuclear weapons.
Obama caught on microphone telling Russia that he’ll buckle to them after the election.

Obama weakened the U.S. all over. Russia watched Syria carefully. Putin helped Iran, and helped Syria. If Obama had kept his mouth shut, or preferably, had helped the rebels before Al Qaeda filled their void – the U.S. would be in good position. But once he bluffed and was called on his bluff, he buckled. On and on….

  2. R we talking about the space station WE paid for
Bless you Obama for getting rid of our space flight ability and relying on Russia

  3. This is great news. It will finally get the US Government to reinvigorate the US manned space program. We have until 2020 to do so, and if we just have the will, it can easily be done.

And, #3, by 2020 there will be plenty of ways to get to the ISS without the Russians, thanks to Elon Musk, Sir Richard Branson, Burt Rutan, and others.
