Speaker Paul Ryan early Thursday warned against rolling the conversation around Wednesday’s deadly shooting at a Florida high school into “taking away citizens’ rights” to own guns.

“There’s more questions than answers at this stage,” Ryan told Indiana radio host Tony Katz.

“I don’t think that means you then roll the conversation into taking away citizens’ rights — taking away a law-abiding citizen’s rights. Obviously this conversation typically goes there,” he added.

“Right now, I think we need to take a breath and collect the facts.”

  1. A report by Everytown showed that there have been nearly 300 US school shootings since 2013, averaging at about one each week for five years straight. As today’s Florida school shooter is still at large, according to local police reports, with at least 20 hurt and 14 reported dead, a five-decade-old question emerges yet again – what can we do to prevent more US school shootings from happening?

    • Everytown is not credible, they exist purely to push gun control. And what do they classify as school shootings? because most of the “18 school shootings” they are saying already happened this year were stray bullets passing through windows in schools in bad areas, or things like that.

  2. Interesting that Frederica Wilson and John Lewis have been silent on this shooting. Could it be because it was only those evil racist white folks who were Republicans anyway?
