S.C. Rep: Victims Waited to Be Shot

Republican South Carolina State Rep. William ChumleyRepublican South Carolina State Rep. William Chumley turned the Charleston shooting at a historic black church into a gun debate Tuesday, when he told CNN that the nine victims who were killed “waited their turn to be shot.”

Chumley said that someone inside could have stopped the shooting and “we’d have less funerals than we’re having.”

When asked to elaborate on whether he meant they should have had guns or tackled the shooter, Chumley said he didn’t know what could have been done, but asked, “why didn’t somebody just do something?” Read more at CNN.

  1. “Better to keep one’s mouth shut and be thought a fool than open it and remove all doubt.” What an insensitive moron.

  2. Undoubtedly insensitive, but 100% right: the only way to defend good people from villains is to arm the good people. Even more insensitive is to use the tragedy to push the statist agenda of banning firearms: supposedly to magically disarm the criminals who already disregard other laws, while in truth seeking complete control of government over the backbone citizenry of this country.
