The Spurs have a tough challenge. After a four game losing streak, they’ve met yet another challenging team: The LA Clippers. The Clippers are coming strong with a deciding win against the suns, but Spurs fans may have an ace up their sleeve. We’re talking about Keldon Johnson, a 20-year-old from Virginia who is showing some promise. Johnson is also a name to watch for when at the books. Utilizing the Against the Spread’s sports betting app, it’s easy to see the worth of this Spurs star when thinking of wagering your ‘schillings’ and cryptos.

Don’t Sleep On Johnson

One player has stood out and that is San Antonio’s Keldon Johnson, who posted the highest stats of his whole career. This includes 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 triples leading the 20-year-old towards his first double-double. His first breakout came last year in August when he scored 35 points in 2 games, while also seeing more time on the court.

Among his notable characteristics are his skills at shooting three-pointers, rebounds, and steals. However, he hasn’t shown a lot of consistency with regard to any of these. His shots can also be iffy, showing some fluctuation. This lack of consistency makes him a risky bet for Daily Fantasy Sports, but he could be a potential gem for the redraft leagues.

Johnson’s first big break came against the Lakers with 25 points, as well as 22 points against the Utah Jazz. That’s two consecutive 20-point games, for not the first, but the second time of his career. His steal and block, or ‘stocks’ ratio is also great at 2.4 per game. He’s been playing steady while Derrick White works on getting back on the roster, but this has really proven that Johnson is one to watch. This is despite the fact that he has been rostered in less than 40% of leagues.

A Good Bet

On Tuesday the San Antonio Spurs currently 2-4 will face the LA Clippers currently 5-2 at the Staples Center to an audience of none. Unfortunately for the Spurs, their 4 game losing streak is not such a good sign of hope for the match against the dominating Clippers. Most recently, the Spurs lost against the Utah Jazz in a painful 130-109 defeat. But to the defense of the Spurs, they’ve had some pretty big-time challengers. Having played the Pelicans, Jazz, and the Lakers.

The Clippers are looking good after defeating the Suns with a 112-107 beatdown. But despite that final score, the game wasn’t really as close as it seems. The Clippers were on fire, making more than 50% of all their three-pointers, and at one point leading the game by more than 30 points. This spells bad news for the Spurs but perhaps they can pull it off if players like Keldon can stay consistent.

What Are the Odds

Here are the odds for the Spurs at Clippers. To get the full list you’ll want to check out BetMGM or USA Today. For the Money Line: Spurs are at +350 while the Clippers are at a -450. That means you’ll get $350 for every $100 you bet on the Spurs, but you’ll have to bet $450 to win $100 by going with the Clippers. No brainer right? Not exactly.

Some notable injuries include Derrick Favors from the Spurs who is threatened by a knee injury. For the Clippers Kevin Durant is at risk with health and safety protocols, while Spencer Dinwiddie is also out with a knee injury. The NBA also has a special NBA promotion where you can win $100 by betting $1 dollar on either team’s money line and win if either team scores a three-pointer.

The Final Prediction

NBA Fantasy Sports fans are eager to know where to put their money. The prediction for Tuesday’s game was the Clippers winning 115-110. If you’re going against the spread, then you’re looking at all-star DeMar DeRozan who averages more points than his rival Kawhi Leonard from the Clippers. Right before the game started on Tuesday, 90% of the bets have been going to the Clippers.

The San Antonio Spurs can show a lot of promise if Johnson can hold his own and start showing some consistency. But they also show a good trend in terms of 3-pointers. According to BetMGM the Spurs are fourth in three-pointer attempts per game, which means they’re trying to better their chances that way.
