Nicolas Sarkozy’s Union for a Popular Movement (UMP), a French right-wing party, performed well in Sunday’s elections, handily winning when combined with centrist allies and dealing a major blow to President François Hollande.
Together, the parties won 70 out of 98 districts, or departments. The far-right National Front, however, did not win any departments in the election. Read more at France 24.
