Saudi King Names Nephew as Crown Prince

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz removed his younger half-brother as crown prince and appointed his nephewe, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, state television reported early Wednesday.

The news of the appointment was announced by royal decree via state television, Al Jazeera reports.

King Salman, 79, also named his son, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as deputy crown prince, and sacked veteran foreign minister Prince Saud al-Faisal for the kingdom’s Washington ambassador Adel al-Jubeir.

This is the second cabinet reshuffule since King Salman came to power in January after the death of his half-brother, King Abdullah. Read more at Al Jazeera.
