Schumer: Trump Must Get Congressional Approval Before Any Military Action Against Iran

Democrats told President Trump in a situation room meeting Thursday he needs to get congressional authorization before taking military action against Iran, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said.

“I told the president that these conflicts have a way of escalating. The president may not intend to go to war here, but we’re worried that — and the administration may bumble into a war,” Schumer told reporters at Capitol Hill after the meeting.

“We told the room that the Democratic position is that congressional approval must be required before funding any conflict in Iran,” he continued. “One of the best ways to avoid bumbling into a war, a war that nobody wants, is to have a robust open debate and for Congress to have a real say. We learned that lesson in the run-up to Iraq.”

  1. Wonder how liberals are going to spin this one…
More than 2.5 million households in the United States dropped off food stamps under the Trump administration.
The most up-to-date USDA data revealed that 18,276,080 households in the U.S. received food stamp benefits, dropping down from 20,839,971 in February 2017.
The nation’s dependency on welfare such as food stamps has also declined on an individual level as well.
The figures, signify a downward trend that is continuing under President Trump.
In a Oval Office interview, he said that he does not want any immigrants coming into the U.S. to be dependent on welfare programs.
“I don’t want to have anyone coming in that’s on welfare,” Trump said in the interview.

  2. Is this the END of Iran?

After Iran’s Revolutionary Guard took responsibility on Thursday for the shootdown of an American drone, claiming the drone had been brought down over the southern coast of its Hormozgan Province, the United States fired back saying the drone was flying in international waters over the Strait of Hormuz.
Navy Capt. Bill Urban, spokesman for U.S. Central Command, stated, “U.S. Central Command can confirm that a U.S. Navy Broad Area Maritime Surveillance ISR aircraft was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile system while operating in international airspace. Iranian reports that the aircraft was over Iran are false.”
ABC News reported that after a top Iranian commander threatened that Iran was “ready for war.”
Revolutionary Guard Commander Major General Hossein Salami blustered, “The downing of the U.S. drone had an explicit, decisive and clear message that defenders of the Islamic Iran’s borders will show decisive and knockout reactions to aggression against this territory. Borders are our red line, and any enemy violating these borders will not go back.”
