Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) vowed on Wednesday to move forward with former President Trump’s second impeachment trial even as Republicans appear poised to acquit him.

“I would simply say to all of my colleagues make no mistake, there will be a trial, and the evidence against the former president will be presented in living color for the nation and every one of us to see once again,” Schumer said from the Senate floor.

“No one will be able to avert their gaze from what Mr. Trump said and did and the consequences of his actions. …We will all watch what happened. We will listen to what happened and then we will vote,” he added.

Schumer’s comments come after 45 Republicans backed an effort to deem Trump’s trial unconstitutional because he’s already left office.

  1. I’m no Trump supporter but impeachment is clearly because the Democrats NEED a fight with and about Trump. So much of the Democrats political identity and appeal to the masses is intertwined with hating Trump that they NEED him to stick around as a boogey man. An impeachment trial will unite the left but spilt the right, take the focus off Biden’s ineffective Corona response and any other failures of his administration. That is why they are insisting on it

  2. The failure is not in having a hearing it is with Republicans hypocrisy and total lack of morality. The impeachment is constitutional, as long as the Republicans focus on that, they do not have to discuss the sedition of Trump and his domestic terrorists. Fox news and Republicans still talk about Hillary’s emails. How many hearing were there in Benghazi a terrorist attack on foreign soil, not a terrorist attack on our seat of government.
