A year forever defined by COVID-19 and a controversial U.S. presidential election has added another item to its resume — second-hottest year on record.

According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration scientists, 2020 nearly surpassed 2016 as the hottest year ever recorded.

Last year was the second straight in which the Earth experienced near-record heat, providing more evidence of the effects of global warming, per Axios.

In 2020, land and ocean surface temperatures averaged 1.76 degree Fahrenheit above the 20th century average, and just 0.04 degree cooler than in 2016.

  1. “just 0.04 degree cooler than in 2016” – I thought it’s meant to be getting hotter and hotter each year?
And that’s despite that in 2020 the carbon emissions dropped by a tremendous amount compared to previous years. Huh, go figure.

“1.76 degree Fahrenheit above the 20th century average” – ie. a 1 deg. Celsius deviation over 100 YEARS? That’s nothing! And that’s making the ridiculous assumption that you can even measure a global average temperature and compare its accuracy to 100 years ago. For goodness sakes.

And even if there really is such an increase, that cannot be responsible for the wildfires etc. that they like to blame on climate change. Give me a break!

ie. Climate change is a farce.
