Israeli police have arrested a second person involved in an attack in which two boys disguised themselves as masked Arabs and beat and broke the teeth of a chareidi man.

The suspect is the brother of the 15-year-old boy who was already arrested as part of the same investigation.

The court has extended the two’s detention. Three boys participated in the attack, one of whom has not yet been apprehended.

The 15-year-old boy arrested on Sunday was apprehended on suspicion that he attacked a number of civilians in Ashdod last week, along with a number of other suspects, using tear gas.

One of the civilians who was attacked by the boys, a chareidi young man, said that he was sure it was a terrorist attack, because the boys were dressed as Arabs. “I lowered my head and then they punched me very hard. One of them tried to spray me with pepper spray. I started running after them, grabbed the last one, and managed to push him to the floor. He told me, ‘I have a knife. I’ll stab you.’ That’s when I realized that it was not an Arab, but an impostor, because he suddenly spoke Hebrew.”

The victim continued: “The other two came back, threw something at my face, and broke my two teeth, before managing to escape. Fortunately, one of the eyewitnesses identified the attackers.”
