Security Boosted at Chacham Ovadiah’s Home Following Stabbing

Shas ministers’ security guards have been ordered to boost their presence outside the home of Chacham Ovadia Yosef, following the murder of Rav Elazar Abuchatzeira in Beer Sheva on Thursday night.

Those arriving to daven at the shul in Chacham Ovadia’s house on Sunday morning were forced to undergo stricter security checks.

Security guards are not normally stationed at Chacham Ovadia‘s house in Yerushalayim’s  Har Nof neighborhood, but the ministers’ guards, who are always there when Chacham Ovadia receives visitors, are responsible for securing the house and preventing hostile elements from entering.

A source in Chacham Ovadia’s home, who confirmed the report, said that almost every person arriving at the house was checked, even those with a “regular” charedi appearance.

According to the source, the shocking murder in Beer Sheva clarified that “everyone has become a suspect – even charedim, unfortunately.”
