An autonomous semitruck drove from Arizona to Oklahoma in about 14 hours, showing that trucks may be heading in the direction of being self-sufficient.

A tech company called TuSimple successfully tested its semi truck to transport watermelons from one state to another, Vice News reported.

However, what is perhaps most impressive is that the trip took 10 hours less than what it would have taken for a human. For most people, that trip would have taken around 24 hours to complete, Alt Driver reported, because human drivers require breaks during every so often.

Although the self-driving truck managed to deliver the melons without accidents, there was a supervisor behind the wheel.

The supervisor seized 20 percent of control at both the beginning of the trip and the end when it needed to be navigated through more densely populated city areas.

  1. If you have any sense of self preservation, you’d be against any self driving vehicles. First, there is a lack of responsibility, which means that any programmer or algorithm builder can install all kinds of unsafe features that would result in collisions and fatalities, while being completely insulated from any legal consequences. More importantly, second, these algorithms will eventually get abused for purposes such as preferential treatment and shadow banning. Imagine a time where you are not officially forced, but your insurance premiums(as the insurance companies will be owned by a monopoly such as Google) are arbitrarily raised to a point of unaffordability and you are forced into a self driving vehicle(again, operated by the same monopoly such as Google). However, you new vehicle is operated by secret algorithms and whims of some guy in silicone valley, which means that you will be artificially slowed down and kept in the right lane all the time, depending on your “subscription” and the chicom-style “social credit system”, or even arbitrarily stopped on the side of the road for hours because “congestion” and your political-status doesn’t allow you to travel during congestion. Or perhaps you will be banned from traveling altogether because of your political opinions, because you are too white, because you reside in suburbs, or because you are traveling to an unapproved destination(such as a shul) too often. It goes without saying that you will have zero privacy, and your driverless operator will sell your realtime traveling information to anyone, included to a burglar who would like to visit your home when you are out. If you think that the above can be remedied by legislation, keep in mind that it will not be you but the above-mentioned monopoly that will control the legislators. The possibilities of the driverless system abuse are endless, and the only way to stop this abuse is to outlaw the driverless vehicles now, while we still can. Otherwise, cheer the driverless takeover if you like being told where and how to go; the totalitarians need idiots.
