A small but increasing number of GOP senators are criticizing Donald Trump for his dinner meeting last week with rapper Kanye ‘Ye’ West and the white nationalist Nick Fuentes.
While former Trump aides Steve Bannon and Mike Pence already criticized the former president, others on Monday came out, including Senate Whip John Thune (R-S.D.) who told reporters that the dinner was “just a bad idea on every level,” per The Huffington Post.
Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), chief of the Senate GOP’s campaign arm, told reporters that “there’s no room in the Republican Party for white supremacists and antisemitism, so it’s wrong.”
Perhaps the boldest comments came from Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who said he hopes to see the former president condemn Fuentes, “because I know [Trump’s] not an antisemite. I can tell you that for a fact that Trump is not but this guy [Fuentes] is evil. And that guy’s just a nasty, disgusting person. He’s a … clown.”
Trump commented on Truth Social after the backlash that he didn’t know who Fuentes was and that the dinner “was intended to be Kanye and me only.” Read more at CNN.
For all his faults I didn’t think Trump was an anti-Semite. After this whole ruckus was made over that meeting I wouldn’t be so sure anymore. Those who are going to criticize him should do so the way Rubio is doing which gives him an out and doesn’t attack him personally.

Rap artist, Kanye west, told reporters on Tuesday that he believes former President Donald Trump is not an anti semite, but that the latter should nevertheless condemn the white nationalist, Nick Fuentes.
“I did not know anything about Mr. Fuentes when we arrived together at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort,” West said, “but they tell me the guy is a White Nationalist. And Mr. Trump, as a former President, should definitely condemn Fuentes and his racism.”
Mr. West added: “I do not believe Trump is an anti semite, but Mr. Fuentes – although he is not Jewish – is definitely an evil person, and Trump should certainly call him out for the racist individual that he is.”
Trump doesn’t hate Jews but he repeatedly spouts anti-Semitic memes and praises people who do hate Jews. And stupid Jews continue to support him.
