A group of Senate Democrats will introduce a constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College this week, the latest sign that idea is picking up mainstream support in the Democratic Party.
The amendment is being led by Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) and initially will be supported by Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin of Illinois, Dianne Feinstein of California and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, who is running for president.
It will be introduced on Tuesday, according to a person familiar with the plans.

They can try abolishing the Electoral College but it won’t help them much as Voter’s ID will go into effect at the next election. Secondly, most of these Dems will be on the chopping list after Mueller’s report.

The one and only reason some Democrats want the electoral college abolished is because Al Gore (in 2000) and Hillary Clinton (in 2016) won the popular vote, yet lost the election because they lost the electoral vote.
Had the electoral college not existed in those years, there is no way of knowing who would’ve won. Both candidates would’ve campaigned heavily in states they ignored, and voters in sure-thing states would’ve been far more motivated to turn out and vote. Especially in 2000, where the popular vote margin was well below 1%, we have no way of knowing who would’ve won had the rules been different then.
MSM lied about Hillary’s popular vote. The only popular vote she won was among the dead.
Let’s change the law and then California residents can stay home and go to sleep early on election night. At that point it would be clearly in favour of whomever the Democrat is.
Interesting comment, since if all California voters had stayed home in the 2016 presidential vote, President Trump would have won the popular vote nationwide.

Bottom line: If California is excluded, Trump won the popular vote by 1,405,004 votes.
