Senate Republican leaders expect the FBI to provide its supplementary background report on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday and to hold a vote on the nominee Friday or Saturday.

Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Thune (S.D.) said after a GOP conference lunch meeting that senators are expected to get the report Wednesday afternoon, which would set up a key procedural vote on Kavanaugh for Friday or Saturday and a final confirmation vote 30 hours later.

“If we get it today, people have an opportunity to review it and then [McConnell] files cloture tomorrow, which would set up a cloture vote on Friday,” Thune said.
