In a preemptive strike against court packing, Senate Republicans are proposing a Constitutional amendment to set the maximum number of Supreme Court justices to nine members.
And, a secondary move, is proposed by Republicans to require a supermajority vote in the Senate before the size of the Supreme Court can be enacted.
“For the sake of our liberties and the future of our country, we must preserve our independent judiciary,” Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told The Washington Times. “These proposals would do just that.”

No. Thanx to Harry Reid, a super majority is not needed. The Republicans have to stop playing “Mr. Nice guy” and really stick it to the democrats. The democrats did just that under the iron fisted rule of Eric Holder/Obama. They better step on it though.
Getting a constitutional amendment is easier said than done. It requires that the proposed amendment be approved by a two thirds vote in bothe the house AND the senate, and then it needs to be ratified by at least two thirds of the states (38 of them). In today’s bitterly divided state of the country, and the fact that the house is controlled by the demo(n)cRATs, it is highly unlikely ANY amendment would be passed, certainly not one that is so damaging to the liberals.
