Seven thieving “ramp rats” – JFK Airport baggage handlers working for a company hired by El Al Airlines – were busted on grand-larceny charges for stealing thousands of dollars worth of bling and electronics from travelers’ luggage, authorities said.
The brazen thieves used pliers and other tools to pry open luggage and grab expensive watches, cameras, iPhones and other booty in thefts that were seen on surveillance video, said PA police sources.
One perp was wearing one of the stolen watches when caught, they said.
The probe into began after “numerous customer complaints about missing items” were received, said Queens DA Richard Brown.
Busted were Tristan Bredwood, 22, Udhoo Doodnauth, 27, Julio Salas, 44, and Oshaine Christie, 22, all of Queens; Dashawn Schooler, 25, of Suffolk; and Romaine Smith, 25, and Nkosi Cunningham, 24, both of Brooklyn.

Union Members, No doubt.
Hooray! If you were ever a victim of theft you too must be dancing that these perps were caught!
Oh, and one more thing!
Next they have to launch a sting on the TSA. They are the same crooks!
they got my sis-in laws ipad. i hope they go down
so will I get my stuff back?!!!!!
why would anyone check in these expensive items instead of bringing them on carry on?
Its not only el al. Coming thru JFK my daughter had her jewelry stolen from a carry on bag they insisted needed checking. Never check a carry on!!
Also the airline doesn’t insure unchecked luggage..even if they gave you a ticket for your carry on
This same disgusting thievery of lost & unclaimed property is commonplace at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC. The pubic must be aware of the crimes that are being committed against them when their lost property is stolen from the PABT’s Lost & Found Dept. by Port Authority Bus Terminal Supervisors. If you lost an item at the PABT & it was returned to you, put in a theft report with the PAPD to get your lost item replaced because most likely your item was stolen by PABT management.
It would be nice to see the Port Authority aggressively go after the criminals and their enablers that they employ who engage in these same disgraceful crimes and even worse criminal acts, i.e. the unconscionable and highly illegally procedure of throwing lost passports found at the PABT in the garbage in this age of global terrorism and rampant identity theft.
