sharonAfter 48 hours at home, Israeli former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was returned to the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv last night.

“Ariel Sharon’s first vacation at his home was successful and went according to plan,” the hospital said after Sharon returned from his Sycamore Ranch in southern Israel.

The former PM was transferred to the rehabilitation department at the hospital for further tests and follow-up.

A medical official at Sheba said that Sharon is in good condition.

“Overall, there are no problems whatsoever. In all, the weekend went by wonderfully. The entire stay, as planned, lasted about 48 hours. We have an orderly plan to hold 3-4 visits of 48 hours. Should all go well, he will be transferred to the Ranch on a permanent basis,” the official said.

The hospital said that “Sharon will stay at the medical center until the next vacation, which will be set in coordination with his family and based on his health condition.”

Sharon was taken to his home Friday for the first time since falling into a coma.

  1. The state of Israel is spending 440 million dollars a year (you read that correctly, a half a billion dollars) it was spending to keep alive the person who engineered the expulsion of 10,000 Jews from their homes in Gush Katif.

  2. This makes no sense. How could the tab possible be that much money ($440 Miliion) a year. An entire small city’s Kupat Cholim care could not reach that level because medical care in Israel is socialized.

This sounds like a fabricated number. What proof do you have of this?

  3. cost = NIS 1.6 million that is approx 440 THOUSAND not million 🙂

    see excerpt below

the government will pay NIS 1.6 million a year for treatment of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, 82, the Ministry of Finance told the Knesset Finance Committee today.
