SHISHA B’KERES ECHAD: Frum Family in France Celebrates Birth of Sextuplets

A rare event occurred in France, where the Ben Simon family of Strasbourg celebrated the birth of sextuplets.

The five girls and one boy were born at the Hautepierre Hospital in Strasbourg. The babies were born at 24 weeks and 6 days into their mother’s pregnancy, making them premature.

The hospital reported that the World Health Organization considers babies to be alive from 22 weeks after birth.

The Ben Shimon family has two older children.

The sextuplets were born via caesarean section between 9:04 a.m. and 9:08 a.m.

The babies weigh between 630 and 730 grams and remain at the hospital, where they will spend several months.

All six babies are in excellent condition, but will be closely supervised and monitored.

These are the first sextuplets born in France in over 30 years. The last sextuplets were born on January 14, 1989 in Normandy.

The chance of having sextuplets altogether is 1 in 4.7 billion.

The baby’s parents, Rabbi and Mrs. Ovadia Ben Simon, lived in the Paris suburb of Epinay Sur Seine until about two years ago, when they moved to Strasbourg.

May they have much nachas from the six newborns and their other children amidst good health.
