The company that publishes Dr. Seuss’ children’s books said it will stop selling six of his titles because they contain racist and insensitive images.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises — the firm charged with preserving and protecting the beloved author’s legacy — said it scrapped the books because they “portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong.”

“Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ catalog represents and supports all communities and families,” the company said in a statement Tuesday, which is also the author’s birthday.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises said it decided last year to stop publishing and licensing the titles — which include “If I Ran the Zoo,” “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!,” “Scrambled Eggs Super!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer” — after consulting with a panel of educators and other experts.

  1. Any kind of reading should be forbidden, altogether. Why risk having people educate themselves, and chas vesholom start to think on their own.
Only whichever information is relayed by liberal news agencies, and the one gleaned from blogs should be allowed.

Take Dr. Seuss, for example. Green Eggs And Ham. The color is highly offensive to chickens, and ham is discriminatory to both pigs and Muslims. Burn the book!

  2. The cancel-niks won’t call a truce
No one is safe, they shut down Seuss
What’s next? Does Horton make folks squirm?
    Then cancel Seuss’s pachyderm!
    After that we must attack
Snow White (’cause she’s not Snow Black)
We’ll bid goodbye to Jack and Jill
Let OSHA raze their unsafe hill
The Old Lady who ate that fly?
Our vegan friends won’t let that by
Green Eggs and Ham? Well, sad to say
It’s now banned by the USDA
    Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose?
It’s Moose abuse by sinful Seuss!
From coast to coast, across our land
These wicked tales must all be banned
Red Riding Hood (you must agree)
    Promotes anti-Wolf bigotry
How dare the Red Hen eat her bread?
    The indolent should feast instead!
And Goldilocks has earned our jeers
    For home-invading those poor bears
These books (and more) deserve derision
When viewed with modern P.C. vision
With our great wisdom we know best
We’ll shred these evil books with zest
    Our vitriol is richly earned
Torch ’em all, they must be burned

  3. Dr. Suess is a no no but the Berenstein Bears (in which the goal is to depict fathers as uneeded baggage and inept klutzes) lives on! Go figure

  4. Dumb idea.

I don’t remember seeing anything remotely racist in a Dr Suess book. Now people will be offended over things that aren’t offensive.

OTOH Curious George which is full of gezel, hezek and other causing pain to people seems to escape all criticism.

  5. Dr. Suess a no no but the Berenstein Bears go marching on degrading fathers and deeming them inept. This country is falling apart.

  6. Sleepy Joe Biden banned Doctor Seuss when he should have banned Doctor Fauci!
(Did you ever taste Fauci Fish? It’s made from chicken)
