On Thursday, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced at a cabinet meeting his intention to seriously consider preventing the transfer of tax revenue that Israel collects to the PA next month, after the ICC issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
This is not the first time Smotrich has threatened to cut off tranfers to the PA, a move which could cause major harm to the Palestinian economy, and an idea that faced serious backlash from the US. In the end, Smotrich agreed to allow the transfers in exchange for settlement recognition in Yehuda and Shomron.
This time, after the ICC issued it’s arrest warrants, and with the incoming Trump administration in January, Smotrich may not hold off.
