Western intelligence officials state that they possess evidence suggesting Iran intends to strike Israel on Tisha B’Av as retaliation for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Tisha B’Av this year starts on Monday night, August 12, and concludes on August 13.

The anticipated attack from Iran is expected to be coordinated with Hezbollah, the terrorist group in Lebanon supported by Iran.

Three insiders conveyed to the New York Times that Iran is planning to avenge Haniyeh’s assassination. This intention was reiterated by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khameini on X, who wrote, “Following this bitter, tragic event which has taken place within the borders of the Islamic Republic, it is our duty to take revenge.”

Iran purportedly hopes that striking on this day would catch Israel off guard.

Sky News Arabia suggests that the media coverage of such an attack would convey to the Islamic world that “Israel is vulnerable to destruction as the Jews have historically been.”

Iran previously attempted an assault on Israel in April, managing only a few direct hits despite launching hundreds of drones and missiles. According to IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, 99% of the projectiles – including 170 explosive UAVs, 30 cruise missiles, and 120 ballistic missiles – were intercepted by Israel and its allies, resulting in minimal damage to an IAF base in southern Israel.

  1. I guess, like their predocessors, Pharoah king of Egypt and Haman from Shushan Iran, they think they can outsmart Hashem. May we be zoche to see the final redemption and the fall of all our enemies. May this Tisha B’av be a joyous and happy day for all of Klal Yisroel as we rejoice and dance with the coming of Moshiach and the rebuilding of the third and final Bais Hamikdash.
Teshuva, Tefillah U’tzedaka ma’avirin es roah hegezairah!

I don’t believe this to be correct

  3. Quote: “If Simchas Torah this year was like Tish’a B’Av, then may Tish’a B’Av be like Simchas Torah this year, with the complete Geulah.”
