Sean Spicer hid in the bushes to avoid reporters for “several minutes” Tuesday night after FBI Director James Comey was unexpectedly fired, The Washington Post reports. Spicer emerged from the shrubbery and only agreed to answer questions as long as he wasn’t being filmed. Spicer then denied President Trump’s involvement in the decision to fire Comey, saying he only did so at the behest of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Other than that, Spicer deferred to the Department of Justice on most questions, including whether Sessions was involved and why Trump didn’t fire Comey weeks or months earlier.

Spicer also claimed there is no need for a special prosecutor to continue the investigation into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with the Russian government in interfering in the presidential election. “There is clearly at this point no evidence of a reason to do that,” Spicer said. “You have a system that’s working.” Read more at the WASHINGTON POST.
